I was recommended by a power company supervisor and came to Kendall in 2005 with 19 years of experience as a general foreman. What has kept you with the company? The relationship between employees and colleagues and the teamwork created between people who take pride in their work. That is what makes me feel at home! What advice would you give your younger self? Don't hold yourself back from advancement. Fear is a terrible thing. Surround yourself with people that love to share their knowledge and experience and feed off that energy. What has been your most rewarding experience with the company? There are so many! Seeing how the company has grown to what it is today and how much I've grown with it. However, the most rewarding part is watching the employees I have trained earn their places as Supervisors and GFs and watch as they teach their employees – priceless! Honoring Francis Delk’s 38 Years of Service Please join us in congratulating Francis Delk on his retirement after 38 years of service with Kendall. Francis has been a dedicated and valued member of our team, leaving a lasting impact through decades of hard work! Francis began his career at Kendall in 1987 as a mechanic, working alongside his father, who was a Supervisor. He had the chance to work with a 1963 Massey Ferguson tractor #ST-1, the first tractor in the Kendall fleet. In 1994, Francis became a Supervisor for the Bell South contract in Knoxville, TN and then moved on to client Oak Ridge in 2008. Most recently, he served as an Estimator where he prepared bid packages for new project opportunities in 27 different states. Reflecting on his time at Kendall, Francis said, “I just enjoyed the work.” He stated that one of the perks of his job was “traveling all over the country.” Francis recalls seeing the birthplace of legendary singer and actor, Roy Rogers, who was known as the "King of the Cowboys" saying it was “one of the neatest places” he visited. Regional Manager Joey Bidwell describes Francis as a good worker who is very dedicated, adding, “He always went above and beyond. He’s a good guy—respectful, and very personable.” Francis retired last month, and we thank him for his contributions over the years. His passion, warmth, and generosity—along with his knack for lively storytelling—will be missed by his Kendall coworkers. Congratulations, Francis—and enjoy your well-earned retirement!
